29 weeks down, 11 weeks to go!

From Week 9 to Week 29:

So far, feeling good! Sometimes I feel like my sciatic nerve is kicking me in the rear (literally) but nothing that some ice/heat and stretching can't fix!

This weekend we got a lot accomplished.  We cleaned our entire front "yard" by trimming the trees, sweeping up any leaves and I took out all of my plants of their pots.  But boy oh boy do mosquitoes love pregnant women legs.   I killed maybe about 15-20!

Nelson cleared out the entire basement and now it's back to how it was before: workout room PLUS a mini man cave! He moved his office down to the basement and made it all work out.  Now I need to find a women cave.

Below I posted a photobook that I put together a few months ago when we first told our family that we were expecting.  Figured I would share :)

Our First Read...

Got home today and got this book in the mail from our friends Bridget, Moe, and Baby Benjamin.
Thank you Bardach family!
It's such an awesome book! It combines all of the Dr. Seuss books in a mini book.  I immediately had to read it to BGC.  I will do this as much as I can.  I actually almost started to cry at the end, but I pulled myself together.  Speaking of crying...I broke down at work the other day when my coworker Jayne was saying something nice about her niece that's pregnant.  Oh hormones, you made me such a sap!

This was written on the first couple of pages of the book:
Dr Seuss, whose real name was Theodor Seuss Geisel, was fascinated by research into the development of babies while they're in their mothers' wombs.
Ted (as he was known) was particularly interested in the idea that babies could hear sounds and might actually respond to their parents' voices.
Ted's interest increased when he and his wife, Audrey, came across an article about researchers who had asked prospective mothers and fathers to read aloud to their babies during their pregnancies.
They were delighted to learn that the book they'd been asked to read wasThe Cat in the Hat!
The researchers found that the baby was more active than usual during the reading and gradually settled down afterwards.
The really cool thing about this was that this response to the reading aloud session continued after birth! Researchers concluded from this that the babies recalled having heard the story before in utero!

Huffin' and Puffin'

It's been quite a busy week.  October is usually the busiest month at Hofstra, hence the lack of posts.

I had 3 programs this week - one being a Resume Workshop for Communication Majors.
I work with the School of Communication (which I love) since I was in the industry before.  So whenever I get a chance to present in my old stomping grounds, I feel at home.  I noticed though that I was very short of breath when I was presenting on Resumes.  It was as if I was jogging and chatting.  Did the students think I was a heavy smoker or did they know I was preggers? I can't remember what I wore that day (pregnancy brain).  Regardless, it threw me off but I realized that this was a normal part of pregnancy.  Hormones and she's sucking the breath and brain right out of me :)

I've been on the hunt for nice clothes and dresses (specifically for the baby showers).  I have 2 backups but I also ordered this dress from Gap Maternity.
Unfortunately it fit my belly, but my "ladies" were squished in there so it was not at all flattering.  Oh well at least it looks nice on this chic.

I did just discover a new site called - http://www.minefornine.com It's pretty much like Bag, Borrow, or Steal for maternity.  You can rent the clothes and return it after a certain amount of time (1 month) or you can buy it at the full cost.  I think I might actually try to it out for a dress. I like this one because of the cap sleeves:

I'm leaning more towards the blue but the pink is cute too.  To borrow it, it's cost $30 bucks.  not bad right?

The only downside is that if you don't like how it looks then you can return it for store credit only.  We'll see. I'm a chicken when it comes to online clothes shopping especially if you can't get the original refund.  If I have no luck next week, I may pull the trigger and "borrow" this dress.

Since it's Friday, we tend to get a little loopy in the office.  We took a 5 minute photo shoot break.  Thanks Deanna for being the wonderful Photographer!

oh oh, it's a dance part with Danielle!
oh no! Danielle is gonna eat the baby!

and last but not least, the Photographer.  Don't mess with us!

HAPPY WEEKEND EVERYBODY!!!!!!

Wanted to point a couple of blog things...

I realize that after I post things, I use "their" when I mean "there." That bothers me, and I mean to change it, but then I forget, and I never go back to it.  So if you notice it too, I'm sorry.

Another thing.  I like to look at the stats of this blog to see what posts are most looked at weekly/daily etc.  What I find the most interesting is that google can show you what people in what countries are looking at your blog:

HELLO AUSSIES!!!!!!

That's my random stuff for the night! NIGHT!

A Little Taste of Parenthood

Well, not exactly, but it sure did feel like it...

BEEP...
    BEEP...
      BEEP...
SMOKE DETECTOR BEEPS ARE THE WORST!!!

Last night when we went to bed, we noticed that there was a short beep coming from the smoke detector.  So instead of fixing the problem right then and there because we thought that it might magically not make noise later on, we decided to take care of it in the morning.

During my hourly run to the bathroom, the beep went off twice in a row.  A little frustrated, I went downstairs and grabbed the detector and "hushed" it.  About 10 minutes later, it went off AGAIN!!!

This was a bad movie! So then it was Nelson's turn to get up.  He got up, did the same thing I did and then put it in our guest room under pillows and the comforter.  AGAIN, 5 minutes later, BEEP!!!!

UGH!!! So he got up AGAIN and we came to realize that it was the OTHER smoke detector, located in the basement.  He ended up taking the battery out and then peace and quiet came back to our lives again.

BUT only problem was, that I could not go back to bed.... So I would like to compare last night to our future sleepless nights with a crying baby.  My turn, then Nelson's turn, then my turn.  Yea yea, I know, there's "no true comparison" and "we don't know what we're in for" and "you'll wish that you had those smoke detector nights" but regardless, at least we will be up with another human being.  That's the dreadful part of not being able to fall back asleep - You are alone and can't talk to anyone. But I will have many conversations with BGC and maybe I'll even chat with her in ESPANOL.  Oh nenita, por favor no llores, todo esta bien. besos!

The Tables Have Turned

Before, I was always freezing in the middle of the night and Nelson was always hot.  Well, seeing that I have two body temperatures, we've been sleeping with the air conditioning on and poor Nelson has to layer up.
It's like I'm getting hot flashes!
Joe, from work, brought in pretzels today.  Immediately my eye went to the expiration date:

Ahhh!!! Even pretzels remind me that the date is just around the corner! Well at least we have 3 months to eat this big jar of pretzels.  They will probably be gone by the end of this week.  Our office likes snacks :)

Bring It On Third Trimester!

Two down, one more to go! And we couldn't be more excited to be in this last trimester.  Nelson has been my rock throughout this process.  I can't believe how hard he has been working.  He's always been a hard worker, but lately he's just been a powerhouse.  BGC and I have a great guy!

This weekend, just like many others, flew by.  We made it a point to have some alone couple time and also to take some photos to remember parts of our pregnancy.  Yesterday, I took care of some errands and also treated myself to a nice walk.  I actually stopped by St. John's University campus and decided to explore.  They have a lot of waterfalls.  It was very nice and I will have to walk their more often, it's closer to me than the park I go to (Cunningham.)

Then I always wanted to try Bubble Tea! I had no idea what it was but I always saw people post pictures of it on facebook.   It's pretty much milk with some flavoring, I chose something that tastes similar to sweet potato and then they put in tapioca "pearls" on the bottom.  They are chewy like gummy bears.  It was good! Will have to try different flavors later on.  Even though it's called bubble tea, this one didn't have any tea in it = no caffeine.

Then today Nelson and I did our usual Sunday morning routine and then went off to the Queens County Farm museum.  We went a couple of years ago and enjoyed it.  Today they had an apple festival so why not go and get some apples to make some pie.  Yum!

Corn on the cob!

and pumpkins!

After coming home, I made some chili for dinner tonight and for Nelson's lunch for work and also made an apple crisp and pie!

We just finished eating dinner, so guess what? It's apple pie time!  Have a great week everybody!
